Holding Space Through Lens and Heart

There’s a quiet kind of magic that lives in the in-between. Between contractions and calm. Between birth and becoming. Between grief and love. That’s where I find myself most at home, both as a doula and as a photographer.

When I started this work, I didn’t realize how much these two parts of my life would weave together. Supporting families through birth, postpartum, and loss is sacred work. It’s about being steady in the waves, soft when things feel heavy, and deeply present in the moments that matter most.

Photography asks for the same thing. It’s about seeing people exactly as they are. Not performing or posing, but being. I try to capture the quiet moments that often get missed — the touch, the tear, the way someone exhales when they finally feel safe.

As a doula, I listen and hold space. I show up with calm hands and an open heart. As a photographer, I witness and document. I notice the little things that tell the story, the milk-drunk smiles, the sleepy mornings, the strength that shows up even when everything feels tender.

Both are about presence. Both are about love.

My camera and my work as a doula share the same intention: to honour the real moments, even when they’re messy. Especially when they’re messy. Because those are the ones that matter most.

Whether it’s welcoming a new life, navigating postpartum, or holding space for loss, I want families to feel seen and remembered. Every photo, every moment, is a reminder that you are not alone.
